AREAS OF FOCUS
Every person should be able to find their own unique path to healing, and I work to create a space where my clients can do just that.
Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal human response to stress and uncertainty, but if we don't have the awareness or the right tools or techniques, it can easily become unmanageable and interfere with daily life. We'll work together to create a personalized approach to treating your anxiety, including helping you to identify and understand your triggers and developing strategies to manage symptoms.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders often begin as coping mechanisms; maybe it's to help you deal with anxiety, depression, trauma, or an overwhelming situation in your life. Eventually, they become maladaptive, hurting the quality of your relationships as well as your mind and body. Together we'll work to explore the ways your eating disorder is attempting to help you cope, identify and work through underlying concerns, and find healthier ways of coping. Eating disorders often require multidisciplinary care, including an eating disorder informed dietitian and a primary care physician. I can assist you in finding providers and collaborate with them to make sure you're receiving comprehensive care.
Body Image
You will have a relationship with your body for as long as you have a body. Why not make it a relationship of compassion and respect? Therapy offers a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore the societal pressure to conform to certain body standards, process underlying beliefs about body image, and help to create an overall healthier relationship with your body and self.
Depression
Depression is a tunnel that can feel like a cave when you're in it. Persistent feelings of sadness, loneliness, a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed; physical symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and changes in appetite - depression affects nearly all aspects of life. Therapy for depression combines evidence-based treatments with compassionate care to help explore the underlying causes, manage symptoms, and help you regain a sense of hope and joy in life.
Relationship Issues
Humans are inherently social. We have evolved to rely on others. But that doesn't mean building and maintaining healthy relationships is easy. Therapy can help to strengthen relationships by offering insight into your early attachments and understanding how those attachments affect the dynamics of your relationships now. Therapy can allow you to recognize and change unhelpful patterns of behaviors, learn how to better communicate, and improve the overall quality of relationships in your life.
Self-esteem
The way we view ourselves directly impacts the way we interact with the world. Together we'll work on building a more positive self-image, learn to practice self acceptance, build upon your natural strengths, and develop a healthier relationship with your thoughts and feelings.
